Sewing Kit, WWII Reproduction

This reproduction WWII sewing kit is a compact, functional field repair roll built with both reenactors and everyday use in mind. When folded and tied, it measures approximately 5.5 inches by 3 inches. Fully opened, it lays flat at about 5.5 inches by 6 inches. The outer shell is made from our custom-dyed khaki cotton fabric, produced specifically for Service of Supply and used across our product line. The interior is constructed from a thicker tan fabric to give it an authentic look and feel. Inside are two slip pockets for thread cards, buttons and other small items you want to keep in there. The kit secures with a single exterior tie strap. This strap is one continuous piece of cotton fabric, doubled over and sewn for strength, permanently attached to the body of the kit. When folded, the ends are simply tied together to keep everything secure. Inside the kit are two interior retention straps that run along each end over the slip pockets. These are intended for practical use in the field, giving you places to hook safety pins, stick pins, or temporarily secure small items. The kit comes complete and ready to use. Included are period-appropriate buttons suitable for U.S. Army impressions, along with additional vintage or high-quality reproduction buttons that blend seamlessly into WWII kits. You’ll also find two 2-inch black safety pins, three stick pins, and two sewing needles. Each slip pocket holds a thread card wound with four colors of thread. Thread colors may vary, but they are always selected to cover the practical range needed for WWII uniforms, from underwear and shirts through wool trousers and overcoats.

While clearly aimed at WWII reenactors and living history impressions, this is not a novelty item. It’s a genuinely useful sewing kit that works just as well in a glove box, rucksack, or travel bag. It looks like it belongs in 1942, but it’s made to be used today.

NOTE: The image of the buttons- there will be some variance in the selection of buttons. Due to availability, it’s not possible for each kit to contain the exact same array as in the photo. What you get is roughly the same number of buttons, and you will get a variety of sizes and colors, giving you better odds at matching the missing button on your uniform. You will NOT get some weird 1970s buttons, or anything that won’t fit 1940s era military. The buttons are for “field repair”- not necessarily historically perfect exact replacements for your original shave-tail officer’s wool shirt. You will get a nice mix of vintage and quality reproduction buttons, trust me. Other companies will just give you reproduction buttons only.
