This flat-end pattern first appeared during Pershing’s 1916 border campaign and remained standard for dress and service uniforms into the 1920s and 1930s. Made from simple black cotton with flat ends on both sides, it measures approximately 48 inches—short by modern standards, but correct for period use. Ties like this were worn tucked between the second and third buttons of the service shirt or under a dress uniform coat.
