Original U.S. Army Training Circular TC 21-6-2, Techniques for Using and Making Sandtables, dated May 20, 1974, with distribution information dated July 1, 1974. This 40-page Vietnam-era training booklet is essentially Army arts and crafts with a tactical purpose, explaining how soldiers and instructors could construct and use three-dimensional sand tables and terrain models for tactical instruction and briefings. It covers teaching tactics, briefing techniques, temporary and permanent sandtables, preparation of terrain, cloth terrain models, materials, construction methods, and using a sandtable to teach a tactical problem. Particularly appealing are the distinctive 1970s-style illustrations found throughout the booklet. Distribution was authorized to combat arms units of the Active Army, Army National Guard, and U.S. Army Reserve.
