This is the 1940 tenth edition of The Bluejackets’ Manual, issued by the United States Naval Institute in Annapolis, Maryland. A standard-issue guide for enlisted Navy personnel, this edition would have been printed right on the cusp of World War II, just before the U.S. entered the conflict. These manuals were critical tools for training sailors in everything from naval customs to seamanship, gunnery, and basic first aid.
The book is complete, with tight binding and intact covers. Light wear and toning on the page edges are consistent with its age, and the blue cloth cover is still in very good shape for a pre-war edition. A great piece for collectors of U.S. Navy memorabilia, WWII historians, or anyone building a WWII-era impression.
