WWII U.S. Army Infantry Garrison Cap – Unissued, Size 6 5/8, Light Blue Infantry Piping

Original World War II U.S. Army garrison cap with correct light blue infantry piping, size 6 5/8. This cap appears to be unissued and is in remarkable condition for its age. The exterior wool shows no moth damage and retains excellent shape, while the maroon silk lining inside is bright and clean. The only flaw is at the back of the leather sweatband where a crease near the tag caused the leather to split from age; the leather itself is dry and brittle, which is typical for pieces that have sat unused for decades. Aside from that small issue, the cap is about as close to mint as you will find. Because of the condition and the fragile sweatband, it would make an outstanding display piece for a mannequin or collection rather than something to wear. A really sharp WWII example that clearly avoided service use, likely helped by the small size.
