Vietnam War US Army Infantry Combat Training & Patrolling FM 21-75 SCOPES Lot

$25.00

Original Vietnam War era U.S. Army infantry training lot consisting of FM 21-75, Combat Training of the Individual Soldier and Patrolling, dated July 1967, together with ST 7-2-172, SCOPES: Squad Combat Operations Exercise (Simulation), A System for Realistic Squad Tactical Training. FM 21-75 covers individual combat training, day and night combat, individual protection, combat intelligence, survival on the nuclear battlefield, survival, evasion and escape, snipers and infrared equipment, counterguerrilla operations, patrol planning, reconnaissance patrols, raids and ambushes. The SCOPES booklet covers preparation and conduct of simulated squad combat exercises, casualty assessment, controllers, rifle scope training, indirect fire and related squad tactical training. Both are original period publications. FM 21-75 shows considerable water staining to the cover and page edges, but remains intact and readable with pages separating normally. SCOPES is considerably cleaner with light age and storage wear. An interesting matched pair of Vietnam-era Army publications showing both combat doctrine and the methods used to train soldiers and squads to put that doctrine into practice.
