Sometimes all you need is a simple, plain, cardboard box. At WWII reenactments they come in handy for all sorts of purposes. You can stash small food items, farby medicine, contacts, anything. These boxes are sturdy cardboard, open on both ends, and are easily opened and closed many times over. You can open them and store them flat too. No glue. They are period because they are plain. We put Carlisle Bandage stamps on them, and even though they are not 100% the exact size, they look pretty good in an active medic impression. These are cheap enough it’s a good idea to have a few handy. They store ammo nicely too.
